All that illuminates on radionuclide imaging is not a metastatic lesion: Role of complementary imaging

چکیده
Radionuclide imaging is a non-invasive modality based on tracer physiology widely utilized in the diagnosis, staging, therapeutic evaluation, and monitoring of metastatic disease spectrum malignancies. Calcific tendinopathy well-recognized disorder related to deposition calcium hydroxyapatite crystals within tendons. We describe patient with urothelial carcinoma bladder revealing increased uptake at left hip 99m Tc labeled methylene diphosphonate scintigraphy suggesting lesion. Cross-sectional magnetic resonance confirmed accurate diagnosis calcific gluteus maximus insertion. This case report highlights importance thorough clinical evaluation complementary assessing benign pathologies which may mimic bone lesions.

Dear Editor With increasing emphasis on publications forfaculty recruitment, career advancementand obtaining research grants, the issues relatedto author kinship and academic nepotism havegrown significantly and these probably reflectthe inflationary growth rather than the optimalgrowth warranted due to increasing researchcomplexity. Allesina S (1) measured the fullmagnitude of nepotism in the ...
متن کاملRadionuclide imaging of infection.
Although our understanding of microorganisms has advanced significantly and antimicrobial therapy has become increasingly available, infection remains a major cause of patient morbidity and mortality. The role of radionuclide imaging in the evaluation of the patient suspected of harboring an infection varies with the situation. For example, in the postoperative patient, radionuclide imaging is ...
متن کامل"All that glitters is not gold": standards for cone-beam computerized tomographic imaging.
In the past few years, there have been increasing references in the dental literature to the utility of cone-beam computerized tomography (CBCT) in clinical dental practice. CBCT has been referred to as the " gold standard " and even the " standard of care " for diagnostic maxillofacial imaging. 1-4 However, as early as the 16th century, the Prince of Morocco in Act II, Scene vii of Shakespeare...
متن کاملImaging is Complementary: Using Multiple Imaging Modalities in Veterinary Medicine
Veterinary diagnostic imaging has grown tremendously in the past 10 years. Digital radiology and cross sectional imaging modalities like ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have profoundly improved our ability to diagnose many small animal diseases. Digital radiography improves image quality while at the same time making radiographs easy to make and share ...
متن کاملRadionuclide Small Intestine Imaging
The aim of this overview article is to present the current possibilities of radionuclide scintigraphic small intestine imaging. Nuclear medicine has a few methods-scintigraphy with red blood cells labelled by means of (99m)Tc for detection of the source of bleeding in the small intestine, Meckel's diverticulum scintigraphy for detection of the ectopic gastric mucosa, radionuclide somatostatin r...
